Diet for gastritis of the stomach: a menu for a week, what can and can not

Diet is the most important component of gastritis therapy. Depending on some characteristics of the disease, for example, acidity in the stomach, as well as the presence of erosive, atrophic and other forms, the diet can change in relation to what can and cannot be included in the menu.

how to properly follow a diet for gastritis

If a person eats unbalanced, occasionally drinks alcohol, smokes and is subject to frequent severe stress, he will inevitably develop a pathology such as gastritis. This is a disease that leads to inflammation of the stomach lining, thus its integrity is disturbed. As a result, various unpleasant symptoms occur, the main of which is sharp pain in the upper abdomen. In addition, bloating, belching, nausea and vomiting appear, the appetite decreases or disappears completely, which often leads to a decrease in body weight. Gastritis of the stomach comes in different forms, including the ability to be caused by an infectious environment, but in any case, for successful treatment, a healthy diet is necessary. It is necessary not only to change the diet, determine what can and cannot be eaten, but also change the principles of nutrition themselves, turn it into a regime with a stable menu for the whole week, divide the total amount of foodin 5-6 meals. With an exacerbation, the diet must be hardened, in addition, there are some nuances if gastritis is characterized by high or low acidity.

What to do and what not to do for gastritis?

The main differences in diet will be determined by acidity. What kind of indicator in a particular patient is determined during diagnosis, prior therapy.

High acidity

For heartburn, which is the most common, there are three basic principles to follow:

  • Mechanic. Defines a ban on fried foods, in addition to this, coarse fiber is not allowed, for example, bran bread, rutabagas, turnips, meat veins.
  • Chemist. It says that you should give up products that promote the secretion of hydrochloric acid, which is required for the digestion process, for example, from soft drinks, alcohol, citrus fruits. In addition, concentrated rich broths made from meat and fish are prohibited.
  • Thermal. It consists of eating foods that have an optimal temperature, which is usually in the range of 16-55 degrees Celsius. If the food is hotter or colder, gastritis causes irritation of the esophagus, which leads to an increase in the duration of absorption of food and, consequently, a greater load on the stomach.

If the environment in the stomach is characterized by acidic, then low-fat types of meat and fish, dairy products, eggs, which can be served as omelette or boiled, are suitable for nutrition. Also, the diet may contain peeled tomatoes, boiled zucchini, potatoes, etc.

Low acidity

A low-acid gastritis diet includes foods that promote increased release of digestive enzymes. For this, it is also important to standardize the food consumption procedure itself. This should be done slowly, it is important to spend at least half a minute chewing a portion of food, and the eating process itself should take at least half an hour. The secretion of slightly carbonated mineral water hydrochloric acid intake significantly improves, 200 ml of such water should be drunk each time before meals. Various fruits and vegetables are allowed, which should be consumed immediately after the end of the meal, as the diet does not allow snacks. Fruits and vegetables should be chosen light, according to the principle of the absence of hard fibers. To further facilitate the digestion process, it is best to peel the fruit in advance and eat only the pulp.

Low acidity provides some relaxation compared to high acidity. A small amount of chocolate products, light soups and broths, and river fish, mushrooms, and lean meats, including rabbit and beef, are acceptable. Milk derivatives are allowed, but it is better to refuse them.

What is not allowed?

If you have gastritis with some heartburn, do not use:

  • Bake;
  • Chocolate products;
  • Fried and spicy foods;
  • Alcoholic beverages;
  • Foods rich in vegetable or animal fats;
  • Vinegar.

How to eat during an exacerbation: menu of the week

In the event of an exacerbation, a compromise must be found and made so that the body receives all the necessary nutrients and trace elements, but the diet was neutral, non-irritating to the mucous membrane, and so strongly inflamed. In this situation, digestion needs as much help as possible to pass very quickly. To do this, try to grind all food as much as possible, and for cooking use only cooking or steaming.

It is important to make a compiled menu not only balanced and smooth, but also to adhere to it exactly, eating food at a strictly defined time every day. The intervals between doses cannot be longer than three hours, otherwise the stomach will empty and the aggravation will only intensify. It is impossible to transmit, as it is fraught with gastric congestion. At night, you should eat no later than three to four hours before going to bed.

Oddly enough, but during an exacerbation, it is recommended to spend the first day on an empty stomach. However, the stomach still needs to be filled. To do this, you need to drink plenty of still water and lightly brewed tea. Any liquid you drink should be warm. From the second day, liquid porridge is allowed, the same mashed potatoes in water. Also, boiled eggs, a non-concentrated soup with grated vegetables, will be useful. With an exacerbation of gastritis, high-fat foods should be completely excluded from the diet, since their decomposition is very slow.

Diet n. 1 seems to be tough enough. However, its use is a must, since the restoration of normal digestion and the non-irritation of the gastric mucosa is very important in case of gastritis or if a person has an ulcer. This diet is prescribed at the end of the exacerbation phase of the disease. Of the cooking methods, you can only use cooking, steaming, baking. It is extremely important to reduce the amount of salt consumed, since its presence negatively affects the state of the inner surface of the stomach, in addition, salt slows the elimination of water from the body.

Among the main dishes that should be included in diet # 1 are:

  • Vegetable soup. The vegetable base can be replaced with noodles or rice;

Diet for erosive forms

Erosive gastritis is called when the action of the disease causes the appearance of gastric erosion, called an ulcer. An ulcer is a more serious disease that can have very serious consequences, including, for example, peritonitis, when erosion of the wall gradually leads to a through hole, as a result of which the contents of the stomach enter the abdominal cavity. This situation is fraught with death without urgent surgical treatment.

The causes of erosion, together with the action of Helicobacter Pylori infection, are the effects of excessively acidic substances or gastric juices. Therefore, with erosive gastritis, it is very important to eat well to slow down and reverse the process of ulcer formation.

These are the principles on which the diet should be based if the patient has erosive gastritis:

  • The food eaten should irritate the stomach wall to a minimum and avoid increasing acidity;
  • You need to eat liquid, warm and grated food regularly. At the same time, it is necessary to minimize the amount of fat and salt in the diet;
  • Rejection of bad habits, spices, soft drinks;
  • Vegetables must be cooked by heat treatment;
  • The emphasis in diet should be on soups and cereals.

Diet and menu if the patient has atrophic gastritis

The atrophic form is relatively difficult to diagnose, since there are no symptoms in the initial phase of the pathology. Of the few signs of the disease, it is possible to notice the presence of burps after fried and fatty, which smell very unpleasant. In addition, the inevitable companions of atrophic gastritis are a general state of weakness, brittle legs and hair, and skin problems.

Atrophic gastritis places serious restrictions on the list of what is possible and what is not. In the diet should be abandoned:

  • Black bakery products, baked muffins;
  • Smoked food;
  • Mushrooms in any form;
  • Peas, beans;
  • Canned food;
  • Untreated fruits and vegetables;
  • Soda, including mineral water;
  • Milk.

Like other gastritis diets, in the atrophic stage, cooking methods like frying and smoking are completely prohibited. To be ready for use, the products can be boiled, steamed, baked

When there is atrophic gastritis, it is important to eat:

  • Soups made from grated vegetables;
  • Various cereals in the water;
  • Boiled lean meat, very finely chopped;
  • Low-fat milk derivatives;
  • Hard boiled eggs;
  • Unleavened white bread, cakes;
  • fruits and vegetables that have been heat treated;
  • Butter;
  • For sweets, you can indulge yourself with jam, jelly, mousse.
